How to Make FRIED CABBAGE WITH BACON AND ONION
- Fry bacon in large fry pan until it is crisp and brown. Drain and set aside. Keep bacon drippings to use later.
- With adequate amount of bacon drippings in fry pan (about 1 cup), Add onion to bacon drippings and stir until translucent. ADD: Chopped cabbage, pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper. Stirring until all of cabbage is coated, more drippings may be necessary to prevent sticking. ADD: Crumbled bacon bits, pinches of sugar (optional) but the sugar brings out the flavor. COVER and cook over LOW heat until cabbage is tender.
