Ingredients
- 1 - small onion, sliced
- 2 teaspoons oil
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 teaspoon beef consume concentrate, i use better than bullion
- 2 cups grated gruyere cheese, lightly packed
- 4 slices bread
- 2 teaspoons butter
How To Make french onion grilled cheese sandwich

Step 1Add oil, onion, and sugar to skillet.

Step 2Cook over low to med low heat until onion begins to caramelize. Stir frequently. Approximately 20 minutes.

Step 3Once onion begins to caramelize, add beef concentrate and water. Cook until water evaporates and remove from skillet.

Step 4Butter bread and place two pieces butter side down in skillet.

Step 5Spread half of the cheese on the bread.

Step 6Top with half of the onions.

Step 7Add the rest of the cheese and top with the other two pieces of buttered bread.

Step 8Grill on medium to medium low until golden brown on one side.

Step 9Flip and grill until other side is golden brown.
