We were pleasantly surprised by this flavorful chicken tikka masala. It's not traditional, but quite tasty. The seasonings on the chicken breasts are not overly spicy. The sauce is savory and creamy thanks to the coconut cream. Serve over steamed rice and with Naan bread for a quick weeknight meal.

Ingredients For chicken tikka masala

  • DRY INGREDIENTS
  • 2 tsp
    dried minced onion
  • 1 tsp
    dried minced garlic
  • 2 tsp
    paprika
  • 1 tsp
    Garam Masala
  • 1/2 tsp
    ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp
    red pepper flakes, optional
  • OTHER STUFF
  • 3 Tbsp
    butter
  • 2 lb
    boneless skinless chicken breasts cut into cubes
  • 2 tsp
    lemon juice
  • 1 can
    diced or crushed tomatoes (14 oz)
  • 1 can
    coconut cream
  • 2 tsp
    corn starch
  • salt and pepper, to taste

How To Make chicken tikka masala

  • Butter, garlic, and onions in a saute pan.

    Melt butter in a large pan over medium heat. If you are using fresh onion and garlic add them now and slightly saute.
  • Cooking chicken in the butter.

    Add the chicken and lemon juice. Cook and stir for about 10 minutes or until the chicken is almost done.
  • Spices and tomatoes added to the chicken.

    Add the spices and tomatoes. Cover and simmer for 10 to 20 min. Salt and pepper to taste.
  • Stirring corn starch into coconut cream.

    Stir the coconut cream and corn starch together.
  • Adding coconut cream to the chicken.

    Add to the chicken.
  • Bringing sauce to a boil.

    Stir well and bring to a boil.
  • Chicken Tikka Masala on two plates.

    Serve over rice. Delicious!
