Ingredients
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 2 teaspoons black pepper (ground)
- 32 ounces beef broth, reduced sodium
- 2 packages (1 ounce each) dry onion soup mix
- 1 small onion (chopped)
- 1 small can yellow corn
- 1 can (your choice) stewed tomato
- 2 cups instant white rice
- 4 cups shredded green cabbage
- 3 cups tomato-vegetable juice
How To Make cabbage stew
-
Step 1Crumble the ground beef into a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the onion, and season with garlic powder and pepper; cook and stir until the beef is evenly browned. Drain off the excess grease.
-
Step 2Pour the beef broth and onion soup mix into the skillet with the beef, and stir to blend. Bring to a boil, then add the rice, cabbage, corn, tomatoes, and tomato-vegetable juice. Stir together, then cover and simmer over low heat for 30 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the liquid is absorbed
-
Step 3NOTE: I used home canned stewed tomatoes ( including the liquid) for the tomatoes listed in the recipe. Yum
