My mom clipped this recipe out of the local newspaper 20+ years ago. I love cabbage rolls but this is a quicker, easier version if you dont have time to make the rolls

Ingredients

cabbage, one small head
1 1/2 lb
ground beef, turkey or pork
garlic
1
onion, small, diced
1/3 c
rice, uncooked
1 lb
sauerkraut, canned
8 oz
tomato sauce
1 1/2 c
water

How to Make Cabbage Roll Casserole

Step-by-Step

  • 1Chop cabbage into bite size pieces and place in the bottom of 13x9 casserole.
  • 2Brown meat, drain and add salt, pepper, garlic, and onion. Sprinkle in uncooked rice. Place meat mixture over cabbage and cover with the sauerkraut, tomato sauce, and water.
  • 3Bake uncovered at 350 for 20 minutes. Cover & continue baking for another hour or until rice is tender.
