My mom clipped this recipe out of the local newspaper 20+ years ago. I love cabbage rolls but this is a quicker, easier version if you dont have time to make the rolls

Ingredients

  • 1 - cabbage, one small head
  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef, turkey or pork
  • - garlic
  • 1 - onion, small, diced
  • 1/3 cup rice, uncooked
  • 1 pound sauerkraut, canned
  • 8 ounces tomato sauce
  • 1 1/2 cups water

How To Make cabbage roll casserole

  • Step 1
    Chop cabbage into bite size pieces and place in the bottom of 13x9 casserole.
  • Step 2
    Brown meat, drain and add salt, pepper, garlic, and onion. Sprinkle in uncooked rice. Place meat mixture over cabbage and cover with the sauerkraut, tomato sauce, and water.
  • Step 3
    Bake uncovered at 350 for 20 minutes. Cover & continue baking for another hour or until rice is tender.
