I just came across this recipe. I haven't made this in years but it will on the menu soon.

Ingredients

  • 4 - lamb shanks
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 - onions, sliced
  • 3/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup cider vinegar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 teaspoon prepared mustard
  • dash cayenne

How To Make barbecued lamb shanks

  • Step 1
    Brown the shanks in oil in a heavy pot or dutch oven. Pour off fat. Add remaining ingredients. Cover and simmer for about 2 hours, spooning some of the sauce over the meat several times during the cooking. If desired, shanks can be baked, covered, in the oven (350) for about 2 hours.
  • Step 2
    These are really good served with rice.
