Plain tomato sandwiches were for everyday consumption in my house when I was growing up. The summer brought fresh tomatoes from the garden. We sliced them, salted them and put them on bread slathered with mayonnaise. So good! On special occasions we were allowed two slices of crisply cooked bacon per sandwich. This is a meal fit for a king!
