Our neighbor gave this recipe to my Mother when I was a little girl.I think my Mother made it once, we did not eat lamb.My husband likes lamb but I don't cook it very often.The other day I asked Aunt Patsy did she eat lamb and she said yes.So I found this recipe out and I'll make it for them,I thought I'd share with you.

Ingredients

  • - 6 meaty lamb shanks
  • - 1 recipe barbecue marinade
  • BARBECUE MARINADE
  • - 1 c tomato juice
  • - 1/2 lemon juice
  • - 1/2 c dill pickle juice
  • - 1 green pepper, finely chopped
  • - 1 t. salt
  • - 1 t. coarse cracked black pepper
  • - 1 t. cumin
  • - 1 t. marjoram

How To Make back yard lamb shanks

  • Step 1
    Place shanks in a deep bowl. Combine barbecue marinade.Pour marinade over shanks ; let stand 4 hours, salt meat.Divide marinade .Grill over slow coals,brushing with 1/2 of the marinade and turning occasionally,about 1 hour or until tender. Don't over cook.Heat remaining marinade serve as a relish.
