After baking all day I was looking for something easy and quick, but tasty, for dinner. I threw this together and had it done in less than 30 minutes. My husband said he was amazed ( I love it when he tells me that!) Just had to share as I know I'm not the only working peron out there that appreciates a simple yet yummy idea for dinner. Give it a try!

prep time 10 Min
cook time 20 Min
method Stove Top
yield 4 serving(s)

Ingredients

  • 1 package saffron rice (i used mahatma)
  • 1 1/2 pounds andouille sausage
  • 1 large onion
  • 2 cups broccolli florets (i used fresh)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon butter

How To Make andouille sausage skillet meal

  • Step 1
Prepare rice according to directions on package. Should take about 20 minutes.
  • Step 2
In large skillet add 1/2 inch of water (about 1 1/2 cps) and lay Andouille sausage in center of pan. Slice onion in thick slices. Cut the slices in half and lay them around outside of sausage. Stack broccoli on top of onion slices.
  • Step 3
Sprinkle garlic powder and salt on broccoli and plop butter in the center of the pan.
  • Step 4
Cover and cook on med-hi heat, turning sausage several times, for 10-12 minutes.
  • Step 5
By this time your rice should be done. Spoon rice onto center of dinner plate and place sausage on top then cover with broccoli and onion. That's it!
