My husband absolutely adores Mexican food. We had gone out to a local restaurant and tried their Mexican pizza appetizer which he liked, But I felt I could improve on it, so I came up with this recipe and it was an instant hit. I've also brought it to potluck type dinners, and even used it as an appetizer. All my friends asked for the recipe. I hope you enjoy it as well.

prep time 45 Min
cook time 20 Min
method Bake
yield 8-10 (or more if used as an appetizer)

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can refried beans
  • 1 can red enchilada sauce
  • 1 can diced green chilis (4 oz)
  • 1 can diced tomatoes
  • 1 package taco seasoning mix
  • 1 - (or 2) tubes refrigerator pizza dough
  • 1 package mexican blend cheese ( or 2 depending on how cheesy you like your pizza)

How To Make taco pizza

  • Step 1
Brown the ground beef with diced onion, minced garlic, and green chilis till beef is no longer pink. then drain.
  • Step 2
return meat mixture to the pan, then add diced tomatoes, Enchilada Sauce, and Taco Seasoning Mix... simmer till sauce starts to thicken.
  • Step 3
Spread out the pizza dough onto a pizza pan or into a 9 X 11 baking dish
  • Step 4
Spread the refried beans over the raw dough, then top with the meat mixture ( at this time you can add other toppings if you wish -- some suggestions: Sliced mushrooms, Olives, Salsa, browned crumbled chorizo or other sausage... whatever you like on tacos will go well on this pizza except for lettuce and sour cream)
  • Step 5
Sprinkle Mexican blend cheeses liberally over the pizza, then bake in a preheated 425 degree oven for 20 minutes or till crust is golden brown and cheese is bubbly
  • Step 6
Let rest for at least 10 minutes before slicing. Enjoy!
