Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef seasoning
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 cup taco sauce
- 3/4 cup water
- 1 can diced green chiles (about 4 oz.)
- 1 can black beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 package taco seasoning mix
- 1 package yellow taco shells (about 12 shells), broken and divided
- 2 cups shredded mexican-style cheese
- 2 - green onions, sliced (optional)
- - salt and pepper
- - sour cream (optional)
- - diced tomatoes (optional)
- - shredded lettuce (optional)
How To Make taco casserole

Step 1Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease an 11x7-inch baking dish.

Step 2Cook beef and onion until beef is browned. Season the beef with salt and pepper, optional. Drain the meat mixture and stir in the taco sauce, water, chiles, beans, and seasoning mix. Stir well. Cook over low heat for 3 to 4 minutes.

Step 3Layer half of the broken shells on the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Cover with half of the meat mixture; sprinkle with 1 cup of cheese. Repeat with remaining ingredients.

Step 4Bake for 20 or 25 minutes or until bubbly and cheese has melted. Garnish with sliced green onions, additional cheese, diced tomatoes, shredded lettuce or sour cream.
