Ingredients

1 lb
ground beef seasoning
1 medium
onion, chopped
1 c
taco sauce
3/4 c
water
1 can(s)
diced green chiles (about 4 oz.)
1 can(s)
black beans, drained and rinsed
1 pkg
taco seasoning mix
1 pkg
yellow taco shells (about 12 shells), broken and divided
2 c
shredded mexican-style cheese
2
green onions, sliced (optional)
salt and pepper
sour cream (optional)
diced tomatoes (optional)
shredded lettuce (optional)

Step-By-Step

1Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease an 11x7-inch baking dish.
2Cook beef and onion until beef is browned. Season the beef with salt and pepper, optional. Drain the meat mixture and stir in the taco sauce, water, chiles, beans, and seasoning mix. Stir well. Cook over low heat for 3 to 4 minutes.
3Layer half of the broken shells on the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Cover with half of the meat mixture; sprinkle with 1 cup of cheese. Repeat with remaining ingredients.
4Bake for 20 or 25 minutes or until bubbly and cheese has melted. Garnish with sliced green onions, additional cheese, diced tomatoes, shredded lettuce or sour cream.
