taco casserole
(1 RATING)
This is what I call comfort food and the recipe came from a local Church Cookbook. I changed it just a bit and it's usually all gone by the time my family gets their fill.

Ingredients
- 1 3/4 pounds hamburger
- 1 can tomato sauce
- 1 can cream of chicken soup
- 1 can chicken and rice soup
- 1 jar taco sauce, 6 oz
- - chopped onion and bell pepper to taste
- - plain doritos crumbled
- 1 - bag four cheese mexican blend shredded cheese
How To Make taco casserole
-
Step 1Brown the hamburger with the chopped bell pepper and onion. I also sprinkle the meat with some chilli powder. Cook well done and drain grease.
-
Step 2Combine soups, tomatoe sauce and taco sauce in bowl and pour into skillet with cooked meat. Simmer 5 or ten minutes.
-
Step 3Choose a fairly large casserole dish, 9x13 is too big, and crumble plain doritos in bottom, place half of you meat mixture on top of this and place some of the shredded cheese on top of this. Repeat layer one more time ending with heavy topping of the cheese. Hint: Be careful not to place too much doritos on this second layer as that tends to make the casserole dry. Just cover it good. Place in 350 degree oven uncovered for about 20 or 30 minutes until bubbly all around.
