I LOVE Chimichangas, but dislike frying anything! These are easy and very good!

  • 2/3 c
    picante sauce or your favorite salsa
  • 1 tsp
  • 1/2 tsp
    dried crushed oregano
  • 1 1/2 c
    cooked chicken-chopped
  • 1 c
    shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 c
    chopped green onions (i've used regular before)
  • 6
    8" flour tortillas
  • 2 Tbsp
    margarine melted
  • ·
    additional cheese and salsa for topping as well as sour cream or whatever you desire

How to Make Oven "Fried" Chimichangas


  1. Mix salsa, cumin, oregano, cooked chicken, cheese and onions.
  2. Place about 1/4 cup of chicken mixture in the middle of each tortilla. Fold opposite sides over filling. Roll up from bottom and place seam side down on a baking sheet.
  3. Brush with melted margarine
  4. Bake at 400 for about 20-25 minutes until golden brown. I have also added black beans to the chicken mixture. Serve with salsa, cheese, sour cream, guacamole....whatever you like!
