This is an awesome salad that I especially like to use in summer. It is easy and delicious. This dish is a favorite of my family and is often requested. It is also an ideal dish for picnics, as long as the pouring of the dressing is suspended till prior to serving. It can also be served as the main dish, which is how I serve it. There are no precise ingredients (except for the meat) I buy the bagged shredded cheese' from Costco and estimate the balance of diced ingredients that will be needed in layering

Ingredients

  • 1 package doritos nacho cheese chips.
  • 1 1/2 pounds ground round,
  • 16 ounces sour cream
  • 3/4 cup fresh diced tomatoes.
  • - additionally: 2-4 diced fresh tomatoes, save.
  • 3/4 cup diced onions, salt and pepper.
  • - 2-4 diced avocados,
  • 1 can small of sliced black olives,
  • 1 medium jar of la victoria salsa- jalapeno
  • 1 medium bottle of italian dressing
  • 1 package of shredded jack cheese,
  • 1 package shredded chedder cheese
  • 1/2 cup cold water,
  • MEAT MIXTURE
  • - place the meat, 3/4 c of diced tomatoes diced onions, water, salt and pepper in a skillet and bring to a fast boil. lower heat to simmer and cover.
  • - after meat has simmered approx 10-15 min uncover and smash meat with spoon to break up lumps, do this periodically approx every 8-10 mins till meat is tender. taste for salt and pepper to your liking.
  • - keep covered till meat is very tender and remove from heat
  • - meat should not be juicey or very dry, just nice and moist.
  • DRESSING MIXTURE
  • - blend well the following in a small bowl. the jar of la victoria salsa and the italian dressing.
  • LAYERING:
  • - in a large bowl start
  • - first: place a layer of nacho cheese doritos.
  • - second: a layer of meat mixture.
  • - then chedder cheese, jack cheese, layer of diced tomatoes, diced avocados and sliced olives.

How To Make mex. amer. taco salad

  • Step 1
    Alternate your layers by starting first with the Doritos, meat etc. and ending with the tomatoes, avocados and olives, It makes a beautiful salad.
  • Step 2
    DRESSING: You should start by adding 1/2 of dressing to 3/4 of salsa, you may want to adjust according to you taste of either one.
  • Step 3
    When you are ready to serve onto you plates, pour your dressing mixture over the top the salad. DO NOT TOSS. The dressing will drain down thru the salad.
  • Step 4
    This a light, and delicious salad. It is fast, easy and filling. It is crunchy and the meat and other ingredients are very tasty. especially awesome in warm weather. Don't forget to put a dollop of sour cream on top of each individual serving.

    When you make this for your family or guests, I am sure they will not resist to ask for a seconds. Enjoy
