Old El Paso use to make a wonderful refried beans with sausage. Sadly they stopped making it. We used it with every Mexican meal as a side, on nachos, on burritos, with chips for bean dip...a lot..We experimented around with several other brands, but none were as good. So, here is what we came up with through trial and error. You could use chorizo sausage, but we found it to be too greasy and not quiet the right flavor.

When we serve this as a bean dip, we usually put it in an oven proof dish and smother it with cheese. Bake for a few minutes, about 10 or so, until the cheese melts. Then serve sour cream and chips with. MMMMM
