It is Fall time here in Reading, Kansas and nothing like a great big bowl of homemade chili. I so enjoy making this chili since my friends and family enjoy it so much, and believe me they come back for seconds!

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil or vegetable oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2-3 - seeded jalapenos, chopped
  • 2 teaspoons garlic, minced (i use minced garlic in a jar
  • 3 14.5 oz cans diced tomatoes
  • 2 6 oz cans tomato paste
  • 1 can beer
  • 1 cup strong brewed coffee
  • 1 can beef broth
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cumin
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon coriander
  • 1 teaspoon each black pepper and salt
  • 3-4 15 oz cans kidney beans, drained
  • 3-1/2 tablespoons chili sauce
  • 2/3 cup salsa, mild, medium or hot
  • 1-2 tablespoon hot sauce, i use frank's hot sauce

How To Make judy's mind blowing chili

  • Step 1
    Heat oil in a large pot; add your beef, onions, jalapenos and garlic. Cook until meat is brown; drain.
  • Step 2
    Add diced tomatoes, tomato paste, coffee, beer and beef broth, simmer for ½ hour.
  • Step 3
    Add brown sugar and spices, kidney beans, chili sauce, salsa and hot sauce. Let this simmer for about 1 hour. ENJOY!
