Just like the enchilada sauce, canned refried beans gave my family upset stomach and gas! So, I played with some pinto's and made my own!

Ingredients For homemade crockpot refried beans

  • 3 c
    dry pinto beans (rinsed)
  • 4 c
    water
  • 5 c
    chicken broth
  • 1 md
    onion diced
  • 2 Tbsp
    crushed garlic
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • 1/4 c
    enchilada sauce
  • 1 c
    grated cheddar cheese

How To Make homemade crockpot refried beans

    Place rinsed pinto beans, diced onion, garlic in crockpot with 5 cups chicken broth.
    cook on high for 8-9 hours.
    you'll have to add your 4 cups water durring cooking.
    drain beans, reserving liquid. Place beans in mixer and add 1 cup reserved liquid.
    Add enchilada sauce until reach desired consistency.
    Place back in crockpot cover with grates cheese on low or warm setting until time to serve.
