Well, I didn't have a can of enchilada sauce so I had to make my own!! It turned out VERY tasty!!!! It was perfect with the tamale pie I made with it!!!

canola oil
2 Tbsp
2 Tbsp
chili powder
1/2 Tbsp
1/4 tsp
ground cayenne
1 15 ounce can(s)
tomato sauce
1 Tbsp
garlic powder
1/2 tsp
onion powder
1/2 tsp
kosher salt
3/4 c
chicken stock (canned or box)

How to Make Enchilada Sauce


  • 1Heat oil in skillet, add flour and stir over medium heat until flour just starts to brown and smells nutty.
  • 2Add tomato sauce and stir.
  • 3Mix in all of the spices.
  • 4Add chicken stock to sauce to thin to desired thickness and heat on low for 20 minutes, stirring frequently.
  • 5Add more chicken stock as needed for consistency. Use for whatever recipe you would like!
