I like to experiment with different ingredients when making a meatloaf. I settled on this recipe because it makes a really tender meatloaf. I think the glaze is a nice touch of sweet to balance the savory.

prep time 30 Min
cook time 1 Hr 15 Min
method Bake
yield 6-8 serving(s)

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 - onion, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 6 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
  • 4 - wasa sourdough crisp crackers, finely crushed
  • 2 - eggs, lightly beaten
  • - salt and pepper, to taste
  • SWEET AND SAVORY GLAZE
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup red wine

How To Make tasty meatloaf with sweet and savory glaze

  • Step 1
Work all ingredients into the beef until well combined. Form into a loaf and place in a baking pan. I like to place it on a rack. If using a rack, pour 1/2 cup of water in pan to prevent drippings from burning.
  • Step 2
For the glaze, whisk together ingredients and pour over the top of the meatloaf.
  • Step 3
Bake at 375 degrees for 1 hour 15 minutes. Let stand 10 minutes before serving.
