This new meat roll recipe I created is based on honey margarine.

Ingredients

  • HONEY MARGARINE
  • 1 1/2 sticks margarine
  • 3/4 cup honey
  • MEAT ROLL
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium red onion, chopped
  • 4 white mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 large carrot, diced
  • 1 medium green bell pepper, seeded and chopped
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons steak seasoning, divided
  • 1 pound ground round
  • 1 pound ground pork
  • 1 cup panko bread crumbs
  • 3/4 cup steak sauce mixed with brown sugar
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 packet dry onion soup mix
  • 8 slices deli Black Forest ham
  • 8 ounces Monterey Jack cheese, shredded

How To Make honey margarine meat roll

  • Step 1
    Whisk margarine and honey in a small bowl for 30 seconds until combined. Set aside.
  • Step 2
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Step 3
    Coat the bottom of a baking sheet with cooking spray.
  • Step 4
    Heat olive oil and 2 tablespoons honey margarine in a large, deep skillet over medium heat. Add chopped red onion, sliced white mushrooms, diced carrots, and chopped green bell peppers. Cook and saute for 4 minutes or until tender.
  • Step 5
    Stir in heavy cream, 2 tablespoons honey margarine, and 1 tablespoon steak seasoning. Remove from heat and set aside.
  • Step 6
    In a large bowl combine ground round, ground pork, bread crumbs, beaten eggs, steak sauce/brown sugar, onion soup mix, and remaining steak seasoning; mix well for 3 minutes.
  • Step 7
    Flatten out the meat into a large square on wax paper. Place the deli ham slices on top of meat. Spoon the sauteed veggies mixture over the top of ham slices. Sprinkle with shredded monterey jack cheese over the top.
  • Step 8
    Using the wax paper roll the meat jelly roll style sealing the edges. Place seam side down on greased baking sheet.
  • Step 9
    Bake at 350 degrees for about 45 minutes. Spoon the remaining honey margarine on the top of the meat roll, spread evenly.
