My husband John came up with this sauce and it makes the meatloaf juicy & delicious.

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, lightly packed
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1 1/2 pounds ground beef, lean (or beef/pork[/veal] meatloaf mix)
- 1/4 cup milk
- 2 - eggs
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, ground
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 1/4 teaspoon ginger, ground
- 3/4 cup saltine cracker crumbs, finely crushed
- 3-4 slices bacon (optional)
How To Make brown sugar meatloaf (piggie optional)

Step 1Preheat oven to 350F. Lightly grease or spray a 5x9” loaf pan.

Step 2Line the bottom of the pan with bacon strips, if using. Press the brown sugar into the bottom of the pan & spread the ketchup over the sugar.

Step 3In a mixing bowl, mix thoroughly all remaining ingredients & shape into a loaf. Place on top of the ketchup/sugar/bacon.

Step 4Bake in preheated oven for 1 hour or until juices run clear.

Step 5Let pan rest for 5 minutes. Flip pan over onto a platter so the bacon/ketchup is on top of meatloaf. Slice & serve.
