Another one my husband made up. (He's amazing!) This has a sweetness to it that compliments the turkey very well! You can change the amounts of the hot sauce, red pepper flakes or chili sauce to suit your heat preference. And don't let the list of ingredients intimidate you. It really is an easy recipe!

Slow Cooker Crock Pot

Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp
    oil
  • 4-5 clove
    garlic, chopped fine
  • 1
    green pepper, chopped
  • 1-2 stalk(s)
    celery, chopped
  • 1 large
    onion, chopped
  • 2 lb
    ground turkey
  • 2 Tbsp
    flour
  • 2 can(s)
    diced tomatoes
  • 3 Tbsp
    chili sauce
  • 1/2 tsp
    hot sauce
  • 1/2 tsp
    red pepper flakes
  • 1 can(s)
    baked beans (we used bourbon & brown sugar, since we had that on hand)
  • 1 can(s)
    whole kernel corn
  • 3-4 Tbsp
    chili powder
  • 1 Tbsp
    ground cumin
  • 2 tsp
    brown sugar
  • 1 tsp
    oregano
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    pepper
  • 1/2 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1 pinch
    ground cloves

How to Make Turkey Chili Coronado

Step-by-Step

  1. Heat oil in the slow cooker over medium-high heat. Add garlic, chopped pepper, celery and onion. Saute until the vegetables soften (about 5 mins).
  2. Add ground turkey and saute until no longer pink, breaking up the meat with the back of a spoon (about 7 minutes).
  3. Sprinkle flour over and stir to blend.
  4. Add remaining ingredients. Stir to combine. Continue to cook in slow cooker for 1-2 hours.
  5. Serve over rice, or with a hearty crusty bread.
