I love BBQue shrimp and have done so since my first trip to Mr.B's Bistro in New Orleans years and years ago. The flavor is fantastic. And, honestly, it is excellent whether you marinate it or not (which is why I didn't include the marinating time in the prep time below).

prep time 15 Min
cook time 20 Min
method Bake
yield 2 to 3 hungry people

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup butter
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon liquid smoke flavoring
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 2 - bay leaves
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • - tabasco, to taste
  • - salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 pounds peeled or unpeeled shrimp

How To Make b-b-que shrimp

  • Step 1
Wash shrimp, pat dry and place in shallow baking pan.
  • Step 2
Combine all remaining ingredients in saucepan and simmer 10 minutes, then pour over shrimp.
  • Step 3
Cover and place pan in fridge for 1 to 2 hours to marinate (and while I like to do this for extra flavor, it is optional--you can go straight to the oven if you are short on time).
  • Step 4
    Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
  • Step 5
Bake shrimp until they all turn pink, stirring every 5 minutes (about 15-20 minutes total). Do not overtake or the shrimp get tough.
  • Step 6
Serve with French bread to soak up the sauce.
