These were my kids favorite choice at lunch when they were kids.

Ingredients

  • 2 (5 oz.) cans tuna in water, drained
  • 1 stalk celery diced
  • 4 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon sweet relish
  • 1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt or original mrs. dash
  • 1/2 teaspoon grated parmesan cheese
  • 1/8 teaspoon onion powder
  • 4 (1/2 in. slices french or italian bread
  • 4 slices pepper jack cheese

How To Make tuna melt

  • Step 1
    In a bowl, mix all ingredients except bread slices and cheese until well blended.
  • Step 2
    Toast the slices of bread lightly.
  • Step 3
    Place slices on a rack in a broiler pan.
  • Step 4
    Divide the tuna mixture evenly over the slices. Spread to the edges of the bread.
  • Step 5
    Top with tomato slices.
  • Step 6
    Sprinkle the top of each with 1/4 of the cheese.
  • Step 7
    Heat the broiler. Broil 4 inches from the heat for 3 minutes or until the cheese melts.
  • Step 8
    Serve open faced.
