sloppy joe's
While in college I was playing guitar with one of my neighbors, when suddenly she jumped up, "My husband will be home soon, I've got to make some dinner. Come talk to me while I throw something together." This is what she made. I went home and made the same thing. My Mom had always just used Manwhich on the rare occasion she would make Sloppy Joe's (too messy for her). I never bought a can again.

Ingredients
- 1 pound lean hamburger
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 8 ounces can tomato sauce
- 8 ounces barbecue sauce
- - hamburger buns
How To Make sloppy joe's
-
Step 1In a medium pan, over medium-high heat, cook hamburger, onion, and garlic til hamburger is just brown and onion is tender. Drain.
-
Step 2Add tomato sauce to meat mixture, scrapping out can. Fill empty can with barbecue sauce, add to meat mixture. Mix well, lower heat to low, and simmer, uncovered, stirring occasionally, til it cooks down to desire consistency (about 30 minutes).
-
Step 3Serve on hamburger buns, or what ever you have available. Once I made my cornbread and poured it over wedges, very yum!
