  • 2 lb
    ground beef ( 80/20 )
  • 4
    15 oz cans of tomato sauce
  • 1/4 c
    mexene chili powder
  • 1/4 c
    sugar ( around 3 tbsp is even better )
  • 1 1/2-2 tsp
    salt or to taste

How to Make MadSouth Cafe Hotdog Chili


  1. "Boil" the ground beef in water until done, then drain and rinse the fat off. This makes the meat crumbly and not greasy. I have found that putting the beef in a deep skillet with water covering the meat and chopping up the beef as it cooks, makes it much easier than using a stock pot. Keep adding water if you need to, it should continue to boil, until it is done.

    Mix the rest of the ingredients in a pan and heat to a slight boil.
    Turn the heat down to medium and add the crumbled ground beef into the sauce.
    Let simmer for about 2 hours.
