A favorite meal we've had in my family for as long as I can remember. Country food at it's finest. Enjoy!

method Bake
yield 4 - 6

Ingredients

  • oil - for browning - 2 - 3 tablespoons
  • 3 pounds pork chops - boneless or bone in - i even use country ribs
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • garlic - salt & pepper - to taste
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons flour
  • 1 package lipton onion soup mix
  • 2 1/2 cups boiling water

How To Make ~ sour cream & onion chops ~

  • Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degree F. Season chops and brown on both sides in oil, in a large skillet.
  • Step 2
Remove chops and place in a 9 x 13 baking dish.
  • Step 3
In the skillet you browned the chops in, whisk in the flour and cook for 1 minute. If not enough fat add a little more. Now, add the soup mix and water. Whisk so as not to have lumps. Cook until thickening some.
  • Step 4
Pour onion mixture over the chops. Cover with foil and bake for 30 - 35 minutes. Remove foil and bake another 30 - 35 minutes or until chops are tender.
  • Step 5
Remove chops to serving plate. To the gravy in the pan whisk in the sour cream, until smooth.
  • Step 6
Serve the gravy over the chops. I also make mashed potatoes. It's delicious served over them as well. Enjoy!!
