kielbasa and potato surprise
Came up with this when I went to the pantry and didn't have sauerkraut. My kids loved it and now it's a fave of the grandkids. One of these days I'll remember to take pictures.

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 pounds kielbasa
- 4 large red potatoes
- 2 medium onions
- 1/2 pound bacon
- 1 large green bell pepper
- 1 medium red bell pepper
- 1/4 cup white wine
How To Make kielbasa and potato surprise
-
Step 1Fry bacon until crisp, set aside to drain saving drippings
-
Step 2Cut potatoes into bite size chunks, add to bacon drippings and fry on high until browned. Add oil if needed.
-
Step 3Reduce heat to medium. Add chopped/sliced onions, peppers and sauté until onions are translucent.
-
Step 4Salt, pepper, celery seed, garlic, other herbs and spices to your taste and preference
-
Step 5Slice kielbasa on top, add wine and bring to boil, reduce to simmer and cover. Cook 15 minutes until kielbasa is hot and the smell turns on the hungry switch. Crumble fried bacon on top and serve.
-
Step 6If you like you can add shredded sharp cheddar on top when you serve it. This is the basic, have fun with it. I like to refer to it as cooking by ear.
