julie's smothered pork chops

Ive been making this dish for my family for many years. They love it and both of my married daughters have now started making it for their own families. sometimes for variation I use ground pork instead of chops for an even quicker version to serve over rice. This also does well in a slow cooker

Ingredients
- 6 - bone in pork chops
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup
- 8 ounces sour cream
- - salt and pepper
- - cooking oil
- 3 tablespoons parsley
- 1 can french fried onions
- 1 - chopped onion (white or yellow)
How To Make julie's smothered pork chops

Step 1salt and pepper pork chops, in med size skillet, sear each side of chop in cooking oil, just until each side is lightly seared, set aside, may need to do in batches layer chops in prepared casserole dish (sprayed with cooking spray to prevent sticking)

Step 2saute chopped onions in same skillet until onions are transparent. turn heat down to medium or low add 1 can of cream of mushroom soup to skillet with onions, stir until just mixed add 1 container (approx 8 oz) sour cream to onion mixture. mix until well blended. add parsley and stir into mixture. Pour this mixture over the pork chops in the casserole dish

Step 3sprinkle french fried onions over top. cover with foil and bake for approx 45 mins. in 350 oven serve over rice or potatoes.
