herbed pork chops
Updated on Jun 7, 2014
These are just wonderful. I originally found this on the back of a package of fresh Thyme. I have made a couple of changes to it and the way it is cooked. If you want something good and just a tad unusual give this a try. It doesn't take much 'thyme' :-)

Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon celery seed
- 1 teaspoon thyme, leaves minced
- 1 teaspoon chives, fresh minced
- 1 teaspoon cilantro, fresh minced
- 2 teaspoons italian parsley chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, fresh ground
- 2 - pork chops, thick cut (about 8 oz each)
- 3 tablespoons butter, unsalted
- 3 - granny smith apples, cored and sliced
- 2 medium onions, sliced thin
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 3 tablespoons water
How To Make herbed pork chops
-
Step 1Mix celery seed, herbs, salt and pepper in a 1 gallon plastic bag. Shake the pork chops in spice mixture and set aside for 10 to 20 minutes at room temperature.
-
Step 2Meanwhile melt butter in pan over medium heat, add onions, apples and brown sugar in the pan and simmer for 5 minutes. Cover and leave on very low heat.
-
Step 3Grill pork chops on a medium grill for about 15 minutes. The meat is done when when firm to the touch or internal temperature reaches 150 degrees. Bring apple mixture back to heat. Add pork chops and let cook, about a minute or so on each side.
-
Step 4To serve place pork chops on a couple tablespoons of apple mixture and top with a tablespoon more and pour a little of the pan juices over the top.
