Ingredients
- 2/3 cup navy beans, dried
- 1 package smoked sausage, i used one with diced jalapeno
- 1/2 medium onion, diced
- 1 medium hatch pepper, seeded and diced (you can use bell for less heat)

- 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
- 1/4 teaspoon liquid smoke flavoring
- 1 tablespoon frank's wing sauce
- 4 slices cooked and diced maple smoked bacon
- 1/4 cup french fried onions
How To Make apple butter bbq baked beans with sausage

Step 1In a large dutch oven, soak beans for at least 4 hours. Cook on medium low heat for 35 to 40 minutes - until tender.

Step 2In a 2 cup measuring cup add bbq sauce, mustard, liquid smoke, and wing sauce. Add water to bring it to 2 cups of liquid. Stir to combine.

Step 3In a medium skillet on medium low heat add 2 tablespoons vegetable oil. Add smoked sausage cut side down. Cook until browned.

Step 4Turn sausage and add onions, and hatch pepper. Cook until onions are tender.

Step 5In a large bowl combine cooked sausage and veggies, beans, and bbq sauce mixture.

Step 6Pour into a 8X8 baking dish.

Step 7Bake at 350 degrees uncovered for about an hour or until sauce has thickened.

Step 8Top with cooked bacon and french fried onions.
