  • 2/3 c
    navy beans, dried
  • 1 pkg
    smoked sausage, i used one with diced jalapeno
  • 1/2 medium
    onion, diced
  • 1 medium
    hatch pepper, seeded and diced (you can use bell for less heat)
  • 1 Tbsp
    yellow mustard
  • 1/4 tsp
    liquid smoke flavoring
  • 1 Tbsp
    frank's wing sauce
  • 4 slice
    cooked and diced maple smoked bacon
  • 1/4 c
    french fried onions

How to Make Apple Butter BBQ Baked Beans With Sausage


  1. In a large dutch oven, soak beans for at least 4 hours. Cook on medium low heat for 35 to 40 minutes - until tender.
  2. In a 2 cup measuring cup add bbq sauce, mustard, liquid smoke, and wing sauce. Add water to bring it to 2 cups of liquid. Stir to combine.
  3. In a medium skillet on medium low heat add 2 tablespoons vegetable oil. Add smoked sausage cut side down. Cook until browned.
  4. Turn sausage and add onions, and hatch pepper. Cook until onions are tender.
  5. In a large bowl combine cooked sausage and veggies, beans, and bbq sauce mixture.
  6. Pour into a 8X8 baking dish.
  7. Bake at 350 degrees uncovered for about an hour or until sauce has thickened.
  8. Top with cooked bacon and french fried onions.
