Mom's Goulash

I have updated this a bit. As I was growing up this was very economical for our struggling little family.
You can add or subtract as your personal taste dictates, but I would try it this way first, and then adjust the next batch.

Stove Top


1/2 lb
ground turkey
1/2 lb
ground beef (97% lean)
1 large
onion, diced
1/2 medium
bell pepper, diced [optional]
1/2 tsp
red pepper flakes [optional]
1 Tbsp
sugar or substitute
1/2 tsp
salt [or to taste]
2 can(s)
condenced tomato soup
1 can(s)
stewed tomatoes, diced
1 can(s)
tomato sauce
2-4 Tbsp
4 oz
elbow macaroni


1Brown meat in large skillet over medium heat with 2-4 tablespoons butter or margerine, diced onion & bell pepper.
2Add red pepper flakes, sugar and salt; stir and continue to cook until onion is tender and meat is browned.
3Add remaining ingredients, except macaroni; cover and allow to simmer over medium-low heat.
4Cook pasta according to package directions; drain well. Add to sauce & mix well. Serve with a sprinkle of parmesan cheese.
