This was always one of the MOST requested meals when the kids had friends over or for their birthday. I add LOTS of bacon - it's the key! This is such an easy recipe and it reheats well too!

prep time 10 Min
cook time 30 Min
method Stove Top
yield 6-8 serving(s)

Ingredients

  • 1 pound bacon, chopped fine
  • 1 medium yellow onion, chopped fine
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 cups low sodium chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 pound penne or ziti (about 4 cups)
  • - salt
  • 3/4 cup grated parmeson cheese
  • - pepper
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded italian 4-cheese blend

How To Make mom's famous baked four cheese pasta

  • Step 1
Adjust oven rack to upper-middle position and heat oven to 500 degrees.
  • Step 2
Cook bacon in large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat until almost done, about 3 minutes. Add onion and garlic and cook until softened, about 3 more minutes. Add broth, cream, pasta and 1/2 teaspoon salt; cover, and bring to boil. Once boiling, reduce heat to medium-low and simmer, stirring frequently, until pasta is tender, about 15 minutes.
  • Step 3
Off heat, stir in Parmesan and season with salt and pepper. Transfer to 2-quart greased casserole dish and sprinkle with shredded cheese.
  • Step 4
Bake until cheese is melted and spotty brown, about 5 minutes. Serve.
