Homemade Vodka Sauce

Carol Perricone

My sister got this recipe from a co-worker many years ago. It is so good, that we make this all the time for our families, and serve it to guests at parties. It is always a hit.

It is easy, and delicious. Try it, you won't be disappointed!

  3. When onion is browned, add both cans of tomatoes, vodka, salt, pepper, and basil. Bring to a low boil.
  4. Add heavy cream, and mix well. Add prosiutto with butter at this time. Check seasonings, and you can add a little more vodka if you want.
  5. Cover pan, and allow sauce to simmer on low for 1 hour.
  6. Meanwhile, cook penne pasta according to package directions, and combine with vodka sauce and parmesan cheese when sauce is done.
