1Partially cook the elbow macaroni ....about 5 minutes
2Drain the macaroni and add to the crockpot along with all but the last three ingredients.
3Cook on low for 2-3 hours stirring occasionally.
4After about 2 1/2 hours of cooking, I like to stir it up one last time. Then I add several pieces of extra sharp cheddar sticking them down into the mixture all over. Then I add a top layer of panko bread crumbs and dot some butter on top. This gives you that baked in the oven crusty topping.
