I grew up on Sloppy Joe's. I think my mom usually made them on Monday nights. I took her recipe and just changed it a little. My kids love it!

1 lb
ground beef (or a mix of beef, pork and veal)
2-3 stalk(s)
celery (chopped)
1 small
red onion (chopped)
8 oz
can of tomato soup (i use campbell's basil & oregano)
1/4 c
chili sauce
1 Tbsp
brown sugar, firmly packed
1 tsp
dried mustard
1 Tbsp
worcestershire sauce
1 Tbsp
white vinegar
salt and pepper to taste

How to Make Sloppy Joe


  • 1Chop celery and onion
  • 2Start browning the beef, and add celery and onion after a few minutes
  • 3Mix together the rest of the ingredients to make the sauce
  • 4Once the meat is browned and the celery and onion are tender or almost tender, add the sauce to the pan and mix well
  • 5Heat for about 20 minutes and stir occasionally.
    Serve on buns, hamburger or hard-roll.
