A great southern combination!! Of course, I use HOT sausage but, you can use mild.

Ingredients

  • - 1 cup uncooked grits
  • - 4 cups water
  • - 1 box jiffy cornbread mix
  • - 1 cup milk
  • - 1 lb. jimmy dean bulk sausage
  • - 1 cup shredded cheese
  • - 1 stick butter
  • - 4 eggs
  • - 1 teaspoon salt

How To Make sausage grits casserole

  • Step 1
    In large saucepan, boil 4 cups water, add uncooked grits and add 1 teaspoon salt, turn off heat and stir well, to prevent lumps. Add butter, stir in. Let cool.
  • Step 2
    Saute sausage and drain.
  • Step 3
    In a bowl, beat eggs with milk, add all together with grits, cheese and cornbread mix, stir well. Put into 9x13 casserole dish.
  • Step 4
    Bake @ 425 for 30 minutes.
