My mother in law used to fix this all the time for her family. It was handed down from a Yugoslavian family. My wife used to fix it but when I retired I started cooking for the two of us. So I fix it now. We both love it.

Ingredients

  • 16 ounces bacon
  • 1 large cabbage
  • 1 - onion chopped
  • 4 - garlic cloves minced
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 - egg
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon salt & pepper

How To Make haluski

  • Step 1
    Chop bacon and fry not crispy, fry onions till translucent, fry garlic but don't burn, then fry cabbage.
  • Step 2
    Mix flour, water, egg and some garlic salt if you wish till you have a sticky dough. Boil a big pot of water, break small pieces like lumps into boiling water. When they float they are done. Mix these lumps with cabbage, bacon, onions, garlic and your done.
  • Step 3
    Should serve 4 with left overs.
