1Slice the smokies into 4 or 5 pieces each, set aside.
In a saucepan over medium high heat add all ingredients except sausages, bring to the boil. Reduce heat, cover and let simmer for about an hour.
2Add the sausages, add water if needed, cover and let simmer for another hour or till beans are very tender and sauce is thickened.
If cooking in a slow cooker; then just add all ingredients, set on low for 6 hours or high for 3 hours.
