beans with little smokies (smoked sausages)

I am not a big fan of navy beans, but when I cook them this way I love them. They are easy to make and could be cooked in a slow cooker as well.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups navy beans, dry (or your favorite beans)
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons onion flakes, dehydrated
  • 1 teaspoon beef stock
  • 1 can tomato sauce 8 oz.
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 3 cups water
  • 1/2 package little smokies sausages

How To Make beans with little smokies (smoked sausages)

  • Step 1
    Slice the smokies into 4 or 5 pieces each, set aside. In a saucepan over medium high heat add all ingredients except sausages, bring to the boil. Reduce heat, cover and let simmer for about an hour.
  • Step 2
    Add the sausages, add water if needed, cover and let simmer for another hour or till beans are very tender and sauce is thickened. If cooking in a slow cooker; then just add all ingredients, set on low for 6 hours or high for 3 hours.
  • Step 3
    Serve with whit rice.
