Feel free to use plain ketchup to top this delicious simple meatloaf recipe,or serve with ketchup on the side. I usually use 85% ground beef because of the flavor,but 90% will work as well.

Ingredients For southern style meatloaf

  • 2 lb
    ground beef
  • 2 lg
    eggs,lightly beaten
  • 1/2 c
    milk
  • 1 c
    bread crumbs, dry
  • 1/2 c
    finely chopped onion
  • 1 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1/4 tsp
    ground black pepper
  • 1/2 c
    ketchup(plus more for topping,if desired)
  • GLAZE TOPPING
  • 4 Tbsp
    ketchup
  • 4 Tbsp
    maple syrup
  • 2 Tbsp
    dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp
    worcestershire sauce

How To Make southern style meatloaf

    Preheat oven to 350.
  • 2
    In a large bowl,combine the ground beef,eggs,milk,bread crumbs,onion,salt & pepper,and 1/2 cup ketchup. Mix until well blended and pack into a 9x5x3 inch loaf pan. Mix glaze topping and set aside. Bake the meatloaf for 1 hr and 10 min. Carefully drain off any excess grease and top with the glaze topping. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes longer. Remove from oven and let rest 5 minutes before serving.
