applesauce meat loaf
I first made this years ago, when my kids were little and they liked it when main dishes were a little sweet. I also suspect they liked it because it looks like a volcano.

Ingredients
- 2 slices orowheat country white bread, shredded to bits
- 1/2 cup applesauce, unsweetened
- 1 pound ground meat (i use buffalo)
- 1 - egg, slightly beaten
- 1/4 cup finely chopped celery
- 2 tablespoons finely chopped onion
- 1 teaspoon dijon mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- dash pepper
- TOPPING
- 1/2 cup applesauce, unsweetened
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vinegar
- 1/2 teaspoon dijon mustard
How To Make applesauce meat loaf

Step 1Combine bread crumbs and applesauce in a medium bowl. Add ground meat, egg, celery, onion, Dijon mustard, salt and pepper; blend thoroughly. Shape into a round loaf in an 8x8x2-inch baking pan.

Step 2Combine topping ingredients in a small bowl. With a spoon make a crater-like depression in top of loaf. Pour topping into crater.

Step 3Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.
