This quick 'n easy recipe is from my 1976 Campbell Soup Cookbook. You can use either chicken, turkey, or ham as the main meat in this delicious recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup - chopped onion
  • 2 tablesp. - chopped, green bell peppers
  • 2 tablesp. - butter or margarine
  • 1 can - (10.75 oz.) cream of chicken or mushroom soup
  • 1/3 to 1/2 - cup of milk
  • 1-1/2 cups - cubed, cooked turkey, chicken, or ham
  • 2 tablesp. - diced, pimiento
  • Dash - of black pepper
  • Toasted - bread

How To Make turkey a la king

  • Step 1
    Cook onion and green peppers in butter until tender.
  • Step 2
    Blend in the soup and milk.
  • Step 3
    Add the turkey (or chicken, or ham) the pimiento, and the black pepper.
  • Step 4
    Heat slowly; stir often.
  • Step 5
    Serve over slices of toasted bread.
  • Step 6
    Yields: About 2-1/2 cups.
