sweet and sour pork by pat duran

This is the way I like to make my sweet and sour pork..It is quick and easy and my family just loves it..I hope you enjoy it too! I use my electric skillet but you can use any large skillet.Also this recipe can easily be used with baked crispy fish sticks, chicken nugets, beef bites and pork. Photo internet.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch, divided
  • 1/4 cup good white wine or chicken broth
  • 1 pound pork loin, cut to bite size pieces
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1/4 cup seasoned wine vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1/4 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1/2 cup unsalted cashews
  • 1/2 cup chopped onions
  • 2 cloves garlic,minced
  • 8-10 small snow peas, cut in 1/2 or leave whole
  • 1 cup chopped all colors bell peppers
  • 8 ounces can pineapple chunks, drained
  • 6 cups hot cooked rice

How To Make sweet and sour pork by pat duran

  • Step 1
    In a large bowl, combine 1 Tablespoon of the cornstarch and white wine,stirring until smooth; add the pork and toss to coat.
  • Step 2
    In another bowl, combine the sugar and remaining Tablespoon of cornstarch. Stir in the water, vinegar,soy sauce and ketchup until smooth; set aside.
  • Step 3
    In a large skillet or wok, stir-fry the pork in hot oil until no longer pink. Add the cashews, onions,ground mustard and garlic; stir fry for about a minute. Add peas and peppers and pineapple; stir fry 3 minutes or until all are crispy tender. Stir in cornstarch mixture and add to pan. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for about a minute or until sauce is thickened. Serve over rice.
