this is basically a roast chicken to use in preparation for my chicken and dumplings, its a bit of work, but totally worth it.

Ingredients
- 1 - 2 lb. whole chicken
- 1 stick butter, softened
- 1 tablespoon parsley
- 1/2 tablespoon basil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- - salt and pepper to taste
How To Make crispy skinned roast chicken

Step 1mix herbs and garlic powder with butter, stir well

Step 2separate skin from chicken, leaving connected around the edges, and massage butter compound under skin

Step 3salt and pepper top of skin

Step 4bake at 400 for about 45 minutes, until 165 degrees in the thigh.
