I didn"t come up with this but I have cooked it over and over and take it to a lot of get together's and there is never any left I hope you enjoy

Ingredients For coke chicken

  • 1 kg
    chicken (drumsticks work best)
  • 1 1/4 l
    coke
  • 100 ml
    maple syrup
  • 100 ml
    soy sauce
  • corn flour ( i think its also known as arrowroot or corn starch it is a thickener)

How To Make coke chicken

  • 1
    Put a little oil (olive) in a fry pan and brown chicken (I used drum drumsticks) they dont dry out brown for a few minutes on all sides
  • 2
    Pour in coke and simmer on medium heat for about 40 mins turning occasionally the sauce should reduce down to about a quarter of the original if not remove chicken and boil until reduced

    add soy and maple and thicken a bit more with the corn flour return the chicken to pan and coat in sauce

    I serve this with home made fried rice or just plain old boiled rice or a really nice salad This makes a great finger food for parties (just use chicken wings instead they wont take as long to cook)
