Ingredients For miriam's chicken in white sauce

  • 2 lb
    favorite cuts of chicken with skin on
  • 1 can
    lg. can of cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 can
    sour cream, lite (equal amts. of sour cream and cream of mushroom soup)
  • 1 Tbsp
    butter
  • oil for browning chicken
  • garlic powder for chicken
  • salt the chicken
  • 1/2
    squeezed lemon or 1 tbsp. of lemon juice
  • 1 c
    rice (opt) and 2 cups of water if you want rice
  • 1 can
    green beans (opt)

How To Make miriam's chicken in white sauce

  • 1
    In a large pot, season chicken w/salt & garlic powder. Brown chicken w/skin on in butter & oil in med. - med. high heat 20-25 minutes. The skin protects the meat as you are browning it. You can remove it after you are done browning it.

    Squeeze 1/2 a lemon (or pour 1 Tbs. of juice) on browned chicken. Add soup, sour cream and stir, (you can put 1/2 water or 1/2 milk instead of all sour cream if you like).

    * Add 2 cups of water IF you are going to put rice in it, (I have also added a can of drained french style green beans at times).

    Bake in pre-heated 350-375 degree oven for 1 hr. or until chicken is done.
