Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef or turkey
- 1 - small onion, chopped
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1-15 oz. can tomato puree
- 1-15 oz. can chili beans
- 1-4.5 oz. can chopped green chilies
- 1 package taco seasoning mix
- 1-8.5 oz. package corn muffin mix, prepared according to package directions
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
How To Make tamale pie

Step 1In a large skillet, brown beef or turkey, onion, cumin and garlic powder. Drain any excess grease.

Step 2Add tomato puree, chili beans, chilies, and taco seasoning mix.

Step 3Cover and simmer 10 minutes.

Step 4Meanwhile, prepare muffin mix and stir in the shredded cheese.

Step 5Pour meat mixture in 2-qt. casserole. Spoon muffin mixture on top.

Step 6Bake 12 to 15 minutes at 400 degrees or until topping is browned.
