prepared caesar salad dressing
boneless skinless chicken breasts cubed
6 slice
8 oz
fresh mushrooms chopped
1 large
onion chopped
4 clove
garlic minced
4 Tbsp
6 Tbsp
3 c
chicken broth
2 c
heavy cream
2 c
gruyere cheese grated
1/4 c
parsley chopped
salt and pepper
1 lb
angel hair pasta cooked and drained

How to Make Smothered Chicken Casserole


  • 1Marinate the chicken in the Caesar dressing 6 hours or overnight. Cook bacon and remove with slotted spoon to a paper towel. Reserve the bacon grease.
  • 2Remove chicken from dressing and shake off any excess discard the dressing. Cook chicken in bacon grease until browned. Place chicken in a greased casserole dish.
  • 3Add the butter to the pan and saute the onions, mushrooms, and garlic until softened. Stir in the flour and make a roux.
  • 4Stir in the chicken broth and the cream. cook until thickened. Remove from heat and stir in the remaining ingredients except pasta. Season to taste.
  • 5Pour over chicken in casserole. Bake at 350 degrees for about 20 to 25 minutes. Serve over pasta.
  • 6Tip
    This is great over egg noodles also.
