Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup prepared caesar salad dressing
  • 4 - boneless skinless chicken breasts cubed
  • 6 slices bacon
  • 8 ounces fresh mushrooms chopped
  • 1 large onion chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic minced
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 6 tablespoons flour
  • 3 cups chicken broth
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 2 cups gruyere cheese grated
  • 1/4 cup parsley chopped
  • - salt and pepper
  • 1 pound angel hair pasta cooked and drained

How To Make smothered chicken casserole

  • Step 1
    Marinate the chicken in the Caesar dressing 6 hours or overnight. Cook bacon and remove with slotted spoon to a paper towel. Reserve the bacon grease.
  • Step 2
    Remove chicken from dressing and shake off any excess discard the dressing. Cook chicken in bacon grease until browned. Place chicken in a greased casserole dish.
  • Step 3
    Add the butter to the pan and saute the onions, mushrooms, and garlic until softened. Stir in the flour and make a roux.
  • Step 4
    Stir in the chicken broth and the cream. cook until thickened. Remove from heat and stir in the remaining ingredients except pasta. Season to taste.
  • Step 5
    Pour over chicken in casserole. Bake at 350 degrees for about 20 to 25 minutes. Serve over pasta.
  • Step 6
    Tip This is great over egg noodles also.
