Cute variation to the regular lasagna presentation

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 pound ground beef
  • 1/4 cup onion chopped
  • 28 ounces crushed tomatoes
  • 3 cups garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon oregano
  • - salt and pepper
  • 15 ounces container ricotta cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/3 cup fresh parsley chopped
  • 1 1/4 cups mozzarella cheese
  • 3/4 cup parmesan cheese grated
  • 1/3 cup romano grated
  • - pepper
  • 12 - lasagna noodles, uncooked

How To Make lasagna roll ups

  • Step 1
    Put oil in pan and cook ground beef and onions until meat is no longer pink. Remove meat and drain. Put meat in food processor with garlic and process until the mixture is fine. add back to pan and add crushed tomatoes, basil and oregano. Simmer sauce while preparing the rest of the dish
  • Step 2
    cook the lasagna noodles in boiling salted water. While noodles are cooking mix the ricotta cheese, egg, 3/4 cup of mozzarella, 1/2 cup parmesan cheese, romano cheese and parsley. Season with pepper.
  • Step 3
    Drain noodles and lay out flat on foil or wax paper. Top with cheese mixture.
  • Step 4
    Add a layer of tomato mixture.
  • Step 5
    Roll up in jelly roll style and place in 9 x 13 greased baking pan.
  • Step 6
    Top with remaining sauce and the rest of the cheese.
  • Step 7
    Bake at 375 degrees for 35 minutes.
