My grandmother served this dish almost every Friday, since Catholics could not eat meat back then and most of us did not like fish. It was many years before I could eat this dish - now I love it again.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 pound elbow macaroni, cooked
  • 12 ounces sharp cheddar cheese, grated
  • 2 teaspoons dry mustard
  • 1 - small onion, chopped
  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine

How To Make grandma angelina's baked macaroni & cheese

  • Step 1
    Boil elbow macaroni until about half way cooked. In a saucepan combine milk, butter, grated cheddar cheese, dry mustard and onion, heat on medium to low until cheese melts to a saucy consistency.
  • Step 2
    In a 13"X9" casserole dish mix macaroni and cheese sauce thoroughly. Bake in 350 degree oven for approximately 40 minutes or until lightly browned and bubbly. Serve as either main or side dish.
